Australia and New Zealand travel poems

Melbourne, Adelaide (Clare Valley), Perth, Margaret River, Broome, Dampier Peninsular, Darwin, Cairns, Sydney, Jindabyne, Blue Mountains, Mount Kosciuszko, Tasmania (Deloraine & Hobart).

I was very lucky to see so much of Australia ... a.k.a the land down unda a.k.a 'Stralya!

Wwoofing (working in exchange for food and accommodation) allowed me unique access into the lives and homes of families who all welcomed me with warmth and kindness. Talk about relying on the kindness of strangers!

Same story with New Zealand. An old school friend gifted me her spare 'Naked Bus' tickets - 10 journeys in total, which I used to get from Auckland in the North Island all the way around the South Island. I was very lucky see the fjords of Milford Sounds and experience the sublime wonder of the incredible NZ landscape!

Highlights definitely include the hiking. Two of my most memorable hiking adventures are Te Anau and Queenstown.

I hiked from my hostel in Queenstown to the top of the Ben Lomond track. It was a 9 hour hike - amazing views!

In Te Anau I hiked through fern rainforest (so magical) all the way up to the first sleeping hut (then I walked back again). I did a lot of tramping in New Zealand. By tramping, I mean hiking / trekking / walking, of course. I stayed in cheap hostels and a friend’s house in Auckland.

Thank you to the people of Australia and New Zealand who supported me during my travels. Without you guys I wouldn’t have had such a huge adventure.

I almost forgot to mention my skydive over Fox Glacier.

T---errify-ing! But SO worth it.

I hope you enjoy my poems.
